Is IBISWorld a software system?

No. IBISWorld offers web-based, “off-the-shelf” research reports on over 400 Canadian industries and more than 1,000 procurement categories. We also offer reports on global industries and industries in the US, China, the UK, Australia and New Zealand. IBISWorld is not a software system and no IT development is required to access IBISWorld research. Accessing our information is as easy as logging into any website!

I don’t know which report to buy to find the information I need. What should I do?

You may try searching by keyword to find a list of relevant reports (the search box is available at the top right of every web page). Or you can call us at 1-800-330-3772 and we will be glad to help you find the report that best meets your needs and business objectives. We’d also be happy to schedule a free demonstration with you to discuss your business intelligence needs.

How frequently does IBISWorld update reports?

We update our reports an average of 2-3 times per year depending on changes in the market for each report. Our update schedule ensures that you can make decisions based on information that is current and insightful.

Where does IBISWorld source its data?

As anyone that relies on accurate and up-to-date business intelligence will attest – the internet has revolutionized the speed with which we can access information. But with billions of internet pages, finding the right information can be like looking for a needle in a haystack. Even if you have the good fortune to locate that information the chances are that it is out-of-date, incomplete or biased. Sourcing such material in a business report is fraught with problems. IBISWorld is a world-leading provider of business information. We start with official and publicly available sources. Where those sources end an IBISWorld analyst can call on industry contacts and non-public sources. They are further supported by in-house data and modeling that provides the most accurate revenue and profit data and forecasts available.

How will I get the report I purchase on the website?

Once you complete the checkout process and we receive your payment, a PDF version of your IBISWorld report will be emailed to you. The report will also be viewable on our website for a period of 24 hours, unless otherwise stated at the cart stage of your purchase. The PDF version is yours to keep indefinitely!

Can you send me a sample report before I subscribe?

Each report page gives an overview, data snapshot and additional information that will give you insights into what the report contains. You can also download a free sample report to get a sense of the format of our reports. If you need more information before you purchase, please call us at 1-800-330-3772 and a representative will be happy to answer your questions.

Does IBISWorld offer a money back guarantee?

IBISWorld offers a 100% money back guarantee on all reports purchased through our website. If the information in a report does not meet the standard indicated in the product description or sample report and we are not able to provide supplementary information to meet that standard, we will offer a full refund for that report.

Industry

Why does industry information matter?

While a business can control many factors influencing its operations, all companies are sensitive to external trends that managers cannot control directly. Successful firms interpret the factors that can be managed, hedge against the risks that can’t be controlled and exploit external trends that open new markets.

The all-encompassing “environment” in which a company operates is Industry. Managers must understand competitors (and how to gain competitive advantage), barriers to entry, industry life cycles and factors such as regulation and taxation. The most successful companies emulate (or surpass) best practice benchmarks to ensure a competitive edge in the marketplace.

IBISWorld’s industry intelligence can assist companies in making better business decisions about revenue generation, strategic positioning, investment risks and more. Our industry data and analysis provides managers with an instant understanding of 1,300+ industries and 7,000+ product and service segments.

How does IBISWorld forecast industry data?

IBISWorld collects data from publicly available sources, such as Statistics Canada and Industry Canada. Where public data ends, an analyst calls on industry contacts and non-public sources. They are supported by in-house data and economic modelling to provide accurate five-year revenue and profitability forecasts.

Official sources tend to be a few years old and rarely forward looking. Key drivers include macroeconomic variables, supply chain factors, demographic and consumer data, regulation and the demand for substitute goods and/or services. When selecting key drivers an analyst investigates which industries sell to, and buy from, an industry. They will take into account movements in the price of key inputs; and changes in demand from industrial and consumer markets.

Does IBISWorld have industry reports for other countries outside of Canada?

Yes! We have Industry reports for the US, China, Australia, the UK and New Zealand, plus Global reports that focus on industries that are truly global in nature (for example, global airlines or cargo services).
